Two of the oldest Celtic symbols that exist which are the cornerstone of the Celtic Faith - the Trinity - which represents the eternal bind between the person, the planet and the soul, and the Triskellion which is a representation of the three stages of a woman’s life: Maidenhood, Motherhood, Crone. Many associate the word Crone with how the etymology managed to bastardized it, from the Old Nothern French “Caroigne” meaning old carrion, cantankerous woman. However, so many forget that the Celts settled the area after the Second Gallic War with the Romans. The Celts were a Matriarchal Civilization and revered women. The word originally comes from “Cailleach”, which translates into Goddess of Wisdom.
At Celtic Fair, we work to keep an old history alive.
